Vitter on Front Street

I trust you all remember Jamie Leigh Jones.

vitter_diapers-1 In 2005, Jamie Leigh Jones’ Halliburton/KBR co-workers gang-raped her while she was working in Baghdad. The company then detained her in a shipping container for at least 24 hours without food, water, or a bed, and “warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she’d be out of a job.” (Jones was not an isolated case.) Jones was prevented from bringing charges in court against KBR because her employment contract stipulated that sexual assault allegations would be heard in private arbitration only.

Last month, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) proposed an amendment to the 2010 Defense Appropriations bill that would withhold defense contracts if companies “restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court.” Although the amendment passed, 30 Republican senators voted against it.

One of the Republicans singled out for especially harsh criticism following the vote was Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), who has a track record of siding against women’s rights. The Huffington Post’s Sam Stein reports that at a town hall meeting this past weekend, a constituent confronted Vitter about his vote

Watch it:

Vitter’s criticism of the Obama administration isn’t quite correct. “While the Obama Defense Department raised concerns about the reach of the Franken amendment,” notes Stein, “the White House itself said it supported ‘the intent’ and was working to make sure it was ‘enforceable.’”… [emphasis added]

Inserted from <Alternet>

The callous way in which Vitter patronizes, dismisses, wvades and the walks away is enough to make you sick.  Vitter typifies today’s GOP.  Every Republican in office is one Republican too many.

NEW ORLEANS — A former New Orleans prostitute who says she had an affair with Sen. David Vitter has passed a lie-detector test and will provide details of the four-month relationship at a press conference Tuesday, according to Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt.

Wendy Cortez, whose real name is Wendy Ellis, says she had a sexual relationship with Vitter, R-La., in 1999, when he was a state legislator.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) apologized last night after his telephone number appeared in the phone records of the woman dubbed the "D.C. Madam," making him the first member of Congress to become ensnared in the high-profile case.

The statement containing Vitter's apology said his telephone number was included on phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates dating from before he ran for the Senate in 2004

Maybe Vitter would have had more time for the woman had she been offering sexual favors?

He is another disgusting piece of trash, not because he like hookers, but because he is simply white trash.

What a piece of work Vitter is, not only did he talk over her, when she started to get frustrated and emotional, he just walked away.

Cut Vitter some slack, the store was out of his favorite brand of diaper.

Lol Randall! This is a great picture indeed.

I will await that press conference, although I have not yet heard it mentioned on the MSM.

Vitter is the ultimate hypocrite and yet he still has hundreds of thousands of supporters. The Krazy Kristians stick together regardless of the sins of their brothers and sisters.

vitter's C Street friends forgive him, and that is what matters most to him.

Damn near broke my heart hearing the pain and emotion in the voice of the woman who was raped.

And that piece of shit diaper-wearing-getting-his-ass-spanked-by-a-prostitute Vitter's utter dismissal of her is beyond contempt.

Please, please, please, let there be some justice in this world where heartless asses like Vitter get payback.

Oh, be reasonable. It's already difficult enough for these poor corporations to recruit quality employees to work in Iraq. If they can no longer offer them the chance to blow off steam now and then by committing the occasional gang-rape, it'll become impossible. Franken's amendment is just another example of liberal over-regulation strangling free enterprise.

What a jerk! Watching his face, he showed no empathy. He simply dismissed her argument and then attacked her stating that Obama was against the amendment, even though I did not hear her mention a political affiliation, simply that she was a rape survivor.

Mark, my objection to Vitter is his extreme hypocrisy, not his peccadilloes.

That he is, Holte. She deserved a little respect, not the contempt he gave her.

Randal, they don't make the nutcracker brand anymore.

Mike, Supply-side Jesus forgives right wing sins. He condemns left wing sins, like gayness, unless the devil made a right winger do it.

Stimson, I think what matters most to Vitter that there are lots more hookers to replace the one that was caught and killed.

That he is, Lisa. Alternate spelling of hypocrite: R-e-p-u-b-l-i-c-a-n.

Hill, with luck, he'll get a bad rash. :-(

Infidel, you do that so well! ;-) Have you considered a career in Kool-Aid? ;-)

Kevin, were she a good Republican woman, she would have had the decency not to survive.
