Bye Bye Bill

Soon we shall have to say goodbye to a journalist I have come to respect greatly over the years.

billmoyerspbs Veteran PBS journalist Bill Moyers has announced that he will be ending his Friday night public affairs show “Bill Moyers Journal” as well as “Now on PBS” on April 30, 2010:

Mr. Moyers said he had been planning for some time to retire the program on Dec. 25, but was asked by PBS to raise the funds to continue through April, which he did.

“I am 75 years old,” he said of the decision to end the series, which began in April 2007. The program has recently been having a “good run of it,” he added in a telephone interview on Friday, “so I feel it’s time.” He said he was not quitting television work, although he has no new projects planned... Inserted from <Think Progress>

I shall miss his rational, unbiased approach, and I wish him well.

the last true journalist. to think chris matthews and bob schieffer are what is left as "journalists" shows how far we have declined as a nation that cares about the truth

we care about winning, being on teevee and selling soap - period

That's exactly right DCap. Didn't he retire then come back because he was not happy with what the media was portraying?

What's important to note here as well is that he is a devout Christian but you would never know it.

A "good" Texan if there ever was one.

DC, that's not far from the truth.

Fly, I knew and it does not surprise me at all. Authentic Christians try to follow Jesus' example. Right wing Pharisees and Sadducees spout their piety codes.

RZ, I saw it a few nights ago. Brilliant!
