I’m always pleased to see my Senator, Ron Wyden, get exposure. This is a remarkable discussion and worth the time to watch it.

One of the subjects in Keith’s report is the Nevada Leg-Hound, Harry Reid, and a video ad being broadcast in Nevada. The buzz is that his voters at home are getting pretty angry at the way he keeps humping the GOP leg instead of standing up and proudly proclaiming support for real reform. The organization airing the ad updates me in email about what they’re doing, so I was planning to post the video anyway. Here it is:
If the bill presented to the Senate does not include a strong public option, I would not want to be Leg-Hound Harry!
Also I would hope that the final bill includes Wyden’s idea that the bill should contain both a public option and an opportunity for people whose employers provide them substandard health covering to choose alternate coverage.

I agree. Keith is good at forcing politicians to take notice of the actual effects of something on everyday people.
I certainly hope Reid will have a primary challenger.
Nevada according to recent polling is pushing 57% for a public option. If there is not one coming out of conference at least we all will know who's leg got humped and whose got dumped on.
Baucus says he supports a public option? I don't believe him.
Wyden makes an excellent and, as far as I can see, too rarely stated point: A public option not only is essential, it must be a real option for consumers and not just the only possibility for people private insurers won't cover. If you reserve the public option only for insurance-industry rejects, the plan could wind up being costly to taxpayers and thus "prove" to some people that it was a bad idea.
Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, as commentators, and Ron Wyden, Bernie Sanders, Sheldon Whitehouse, Barbara Boxer, Jay Rockefeller, Sherrod Brown, and Al Franken, as Senators, plus Dennis Kucinich and Alan Grayson as Representatives, are an all-too-few number of people who understand and are pushing for exactly what the overwhelming majority of people in this country need as regards health care reform.

The only way a reform will work is for people to be able to choose alternatives to the sh*t that is presently shoved on us as "insurance."
Employer-based insurance is dead wrong anyway; it hurts our competitiveness. We need to be done with it.
