The Traitor Is a Hypocrite

The more I learn about the threats form Joe Liebercrud to filibuster health care reform, the angrier I feel.  He sounded a lot different when he was running for the Senate in 2006.

corruption Political watchdogs and supporters of the public health care option are accusing Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman of hypocrisy for announcing he plans to filibuster the Senate health care reform bill after years of voicing support for health care reform.

Since Lieberman's announcement on Tuesday that he would not stop a Republican filibuster of health reform if that health reform included a public option, bloggers have been scrambling to post videos of Lieberman advocating health care reform, including the principle of universal coverage, in past election campaigns.

Lieberman's position on the filibuster is crucial. The Democrats need all 60 of their Senate caucus members to vote in unison to overcome an expected filibuster of the bill. Since 2006, Lieberman has been an independent, but has caucused with the Democrats and is counted as one of the Democratic senators on the Hill.

At his DailyKos blog, Jed Lewison posted a video of Lieberman promising health care reform during his 2006 Senate run.

"What I’m saying to the people of Connecticut, I can do more for you and your families to get something done to make health care affordable, to get universal health insurance," Lieberman said during a July, 2006, debate…

What he promised during his campaign sounds a lot like the strong public option with no opt out.  Rachel Maddow joins with Glen Greenwald to explain Joe’s change of liver (since that scum sucker has no heart)

When the Democratic Party took back this absolute waste of skin, restoring his committee chairmanship, seniority and perques, he gave his solemn vow that he would stand with the party and not use his power against the party on key issues.  Now we see what his word is worth.

Let the dogs howl. Let them filibuster and let Reid let it go on for as many months as needed to muster 60 votes to end it. I say let all of the business of the nation stop on the Senate floor until this issue is settled and we all know which dog is laying in which kennel.

The life on America is going to go on one way or the other if these fools can't find accord then let their debates drag on and on and on.

And damn the first Democrat that joins the filibuster.

Welcome to Politics Plus and top Blogger, Vivian. I completely agree. Let us know when you start posting, OK?

Amen, Mark. Moveon.org has asked that all their members agree to do nothing for any Democrat that joins the Republican filibuster ever again. I fully agree.

I've been an active Democrat since I was thirteen years old. I've been watching as the party I gave my heart and soul grows closer to the ideology and selfishness of the republican party. Health care for all is a core value Democrats should have been fighting for since our Party was founded. Now it isn't republicans that are only fighting what we all should consider a right for all, but Democrats, and a former Democrat, that are spiiting on the values which draw working Americans to the Party.

Lieberman's actions have nothing to do with any ideals or concerns he has. He's only worried about appealing to enough republicans in his state that he can get reelected. And if that doesn't work, I agree with Vivians outlook as the next scenario involving this scumbag.

Hi Truth. The moderate conservatives of the 60's were a little to the left of today's Democrats. That's dificult enough without the likes of LIEnerBUSH.

Welcome, Lisa. I'd follow you back to your blog, but you don't appear to have one. Make yourself at home here. My only minor point of disagreement is that he is at best a third class asshole. ;-)
