On October 11, I discussed how the GOP is using a procedural tactic in the Senate to block an extension of unemployment benefits for victims of the Bush/GOP favorite initiative: No Millionaire Left Behind. Well, they’re at it again.
While Republicans may be publicly wringing their hands over unemployment numbers (while gleefully calculating how they can use them to their advantage in 2010), they continue to block legislation that would extend unemployment benefits:
Republicans are hoping to attach a number of amendments related to ACORN and immigration — provisions that have delayed floor action on the UI bill indefinitely, according to the offices of both Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
A spokesman from the Majority Leader's office mewls:
It seems as if they aren’t negotiating in good faith on this.
Wow, what insight.
For the second time in a month, the Party of No is screwing over those who need help the most -- but they're getting an able assist from the Party Who Can't Spell Majority…

These Republicans do not care how much suffering they cause, but there is some good news coming out of their constant obstruction. Keith Olbermann covered it.

It seems that the tea party in Portland is very close to where I live. I may go laugh at them. :-)

Well, it could go on and on.
To me, it would seem that the Republicans would want to pick up votes along the way, and they should take the position that temporary intrusions into the marketplace by government, such as unemployment safety nets, should be temporarily extended, and such extension would show that the Republicans are willing to compromise to help ease the troubles of their constituency during this hard time, instead of ignoring their cries for help.
We MUST laugh at them. And point to them, and tell them we are laughing at them. They are anti-education, anti-health care, and anti-worker.
They obviously hate themselves and idolize the rich. How can anyone like that be taken seriously? Other than when they get violent, of course.
ROTF, Marva. I won't be doing anything to draw attention to myself. The police in Portland are quite conservative. They have a history of severe violence against left wing demonstrators. Even using my cell phone camera will be high risk.
Kevin, you make perfect sense here. That's exactly what Republicans should be doing. Instead, they are doing everything they can to drive sensible people from their party. Consider the 23rd Congressional District in NY.
Dave, I actually feel some empathy for the rank and file. They are usually poor, ignorant, and so totally brainwashed that they don't now any better.
