Reich Wing Coup?

You’re not going to believe this.  I ran across this Newsmax article that shocked me to my core.  I will not link to that vile propaganda mill, but if you want to read it yourself, follow the hat-tip to find a link there.  In fairness, I have to say that the author said he wasn’t personally “advocating” this position, but presenting it for consideration.  Now, if you believe that, please contact me about purchasing a bridge and an alpine ski resort in Kansas.  Here’s the meat of the article.

republicanreich ...So, view the following through military eyes:

  • Officers swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Unlike enlisted personnel, they do not swear to “obey the orders of the president of the United States.”
  • Top military officers can see the Constitution they are sworn to defend being trampled as American institutions and enterprises are nationalized.
  • They can see that Americans are increasingly alarmed that this nation, under President Barack Obama, may not even be recognizable as America by the 2012 election, in which he will surely seek continuation in office.
  • They can see that the economy — ravaged by deficits, taxes, unemployment, and impending inflation — is financially reliant on foreign lender governments.
  • They can see this president waging undeclared war on the intelligence community, without whose rigorous and independent functions the armed services are rendered blind in an ever-more hostile world overseas and at home.
  • They can see the dismantling of defenses against missiles targeted at this nation by avowed enemies, even as America’s troop strength is allowed to sag.
  • They can see the horror of major warfare erupting simultaneously in two, and possibly three, far-flung theaters before America can react in time.
  • They can see the nation’s safety and their own military establishments and honor placed in jeopardy as never before.
So, if you are one of those observant military professionals, what do you do?
Wait until this president bungles into losing the war in Afghanistan, and Pakistan’s arsenal of nuclear bombs falls into the hands of militant Islam?
Wait until Israel is forced to launch air strikes on Iran’s nuclear-bomb plants, and the Middle East explodes, destabilizing or subjugating the Free World?...

Hat-Tip: TPM

What we have here is a call for this author, hiding behind the claim not to officially “advocate” it, is a call for the military to overthrow the government of the United States.  This is what is going on behind the civility of GOP Senators.  These are the depths to which the party of Lincoln has fallen.  How do you spell T-R-E-A-S-O-N?

The above was all of the biographical information I could find on the author.

Below is the information found on the publication that ran his article.

The right is getting more rabid in their desire to defeat the constitution which gives the sitting president the role of commander and chief. Any coup attempt would be a violation of that constitution by the officers sworn to uphold it.

I followed the links to the Newsmax website and there is this huge face of Glenn Beck wearing an Uncle Sam hat with the caption, "Glenn Beck wants you".

There's a lot of vile weird stuff on that website.

As Bill Maher said: "Democrats have moved to the right, and the right has moved into a mental hospital."

It is getting pretty sad out there. They should all be written up for dereliction of duty at the very least. I think they are in violation just as much as an enlisted person is, whether they are officers or not. I would have to ask some of my military friends to find out.. but I can do that and get back to you.

Outrage meter is broken, but this is truly stunning.

I agree with what Jack Jodell said.

Where did this mistaken belief that liberals and progressives aren't fighters come from, anyway?

The fools that believe such nonsense obviously haven't met any of us "country liberals."

Jack and Hill, if I understand what you are saying correctly, I agree. The radical right seems to think they can trample on everything and everyone they happen to disagree with and that it is perfectly okay to bring guns to political rallies and talk about "taking things back" They think it is perfectly acceptable to threaten Obama's life, yet can you imagine their uproar if someone suggested blowing the ass off of Limbaugh or Beck? Sadly, the only way to bring a halt to this nonsense is to meet them head on, gun for gun. If they want armed war, it is time for the left to step up to the plate and give it to them.

i have just left a site that is owned by murdoch. many of the posters there get their info from newsmax and other such sites, and radio stations. this propaganda was repeated there time after time. they are parrots for these insano fascists.

I hate to say it, but I saw the same kinda shit coming from "the left" when Bush was President. The fact is, the Internet is one of those places where faceless people could and do write anything they want and it's up to the individual of they want to read it and believe it or not.

IMO, there will always be a small portion of military personnel who will defect, so to speak, but there is no way that there will ever be a large contingency of military who will go against the Commander-in-Chief. No way, no how...that is unless the Commander-in-Chief told them to kill their own military personnel or American citizens.

Thanks Mark! That's great info.

Welcome back, Anjo. That there is, and I think Maher has it right. Folks, this little lady whipped my butt in Fantasy Football a couple years back.

In that instance, point me to the hills, Jack.

Annette, nobody in the military has done anything wrong here, to my knowledge. These GOP nut-jobs are suggesting that the do.

LOL, Hill. You get 'em girl!!

Welcome, Charles. For now, I have to disagree with you. Fear and violence are the Republicans' tactics. We're better than that. We're better armed with what they don't have: Rational minds. I could not endorse violence except in direct self defense.

Thanks Annette. Good link.

Good point, Randal.

RZ, it does not surprise me that this idea is spreading through the Reich like wildfire.

Nunly, there's a big difference. Such mindlessness came as a rare comment on a blog. When left handed wing-nuts commented like that here, I always disagreed in the strongest terms. The major call from the left where Bush was concerned was to impeach him, not to overthrow the government. This on the other hand was posted as an approved article on a major media outlet. Newsmax is to the Internet what Faux Noise is to broadcasting.

Loved that movie, RZ.

and they're factually inaccurate too. must the wingnuts lie all the time as well as be crazy ?

Oso, I think it's only leaders that are lying. The rank and file are brainwashed.
